![]() Despite this growing interest in AFS, comprehensive analyses of the scholarly literature are hard to find. Therefore, the present systematic review delineated the contours of this growing research strand and analyzed how it relates to sustainability. A search performed on the Web of Science in January 2020 yielded 1389 documents, and 1289 were selected and underwent bibliometric and topical analyses. The topical analysis was informed by the SAFA (Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agriculture systems) approach of FAO and structured along four dimensions viz. environment, economy, society and culture, and policy and governance. The review shows an increasing interest in AFS with an exponential increase in publications number. However, the study field is north-biased and dominated by researchers and organizations from developed countries. Moreover, the analysis suggests that while environmental aspects are sufficiently addressed, social, economic, and political ones are generally overlooked. The paper ends by providing directions for future research and listing some topics to be integrated into a comprehensive, multidisciplinary agenda addressing the multifaceted (un)sustainability of AFS. It makes the case for adopting a holistic, 4-P (planet, people, profit, policy) approach in agri-food system studies.įood systems are high on the international agenda, as shown by the United Nations’ Food Systems Summit scheduled for September 2021. The Summit is part of the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and aims to unleash the power of food systems in delivering progress on all SDGs. ![]() Indeed, it aims to deliver more sustainable, equitable, and healthier food systems by working on five action tracks viz. ensuring access to safe and nutritious food for all shifting to sustainable consumption patterns boosting nature-positive production advancing equitable livelihoods and building resilience to vulnerabilities, shocks, and stress. #Scott peterson rumpus cabernet sauvignon california 2014 how toĪctors from across the world’s food systems will explore how to mobilize key cross-cutting levers of change (e.g., gender, human rights, finance, innovation) to transform agri-food systems towards sustainability. Sustainable food systems (SFS) are also among the key elements of the European Green Deal and, more specifically, the Farm to Fork Strategy of the European Union. ![]() Indeed, the Farm to Fork strategy (F2F) aims at fostering transition towards sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems in the European Union. Īccording to the High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) of the Committee on World Food Security, “ A food system gathers all the elements (environment, people, inputs, processes, infrastructures, institutions, etc.) and activities that relate to the production, processing, distribution, preparation and consumption of food and the outputs of these activities, including socio-economic and environmental outcomes”. This definition shows that the concept of food systems goes beyond activities (viz. production, processing, distribution, preparation, and consumption) and encompasses other constituent elements as well as the outputs and outcomes of food-related activities. #Scott peterson rumpus cabernet sauvignon california 2014 driversįood systems encompass food supply chains, food environments, consumer behavior, as well as external drivers (e.g., population growth, urbanization, climate change, trade, globalization, politics) and outcomes (environmental, social, economic).#Scott peterson rumpus cabernet sauvignon california 2014 how to.
